Let’s plant flowers with me! Jomlah tanam pokok bunga!

I hate worms, but love flowers so much. How do I plant flowers without getting a heart attack every time I see worm? Easy, plant them in containers! Now, why I didn’t think about this sooner? See below – before and after photos of my flower pots.  ~ from amateur gardener. :D
Saya memang tak suka cacing, tapi suka sangat kat bunga. Macam mana nak tanam pokok bunga tanpa kena sakit jantung setiap kali nampak cacing? Senang je, tanamlah dalam pasu bunga! Hmm… kenapalah saya tak pikir awal2 lagi? Sila tengok gambar sebelum dan selepas pokok2 bunga saya.
~ dari budak baru belajar bercucuk tanam. :D

I'm Thankful for the Gift of You

I have been blessed with such wonderful friends in my life.  They come from different background and beliefs but they are still my best friends.  Some of them means more than friends - they are like my sisters and brothers.  They come and go.  Some to eternity (may God bless them) and some to a different continent.  I lost one earlier this year (may him rest in peace). Just when the wound about to heal, I'm about to lose another one.  The only consolation is, at least this one is moving back to her country after studying here for about 2 years. Still, the notion of losing someone you cared about so dearly is unsettling.  Before I get all mushy and teary eyes, I wanted to share this poem with her to let her know how special and wonderful she has been to me.  Here it goes...

In a world that does its best
to make us a little fuzzy around the edges,
some people still manage to have bold outlines.

They know who they are,
what they're about,
what they alone can give.

And just like them,
the gifts they share are bold,
bright, beautiful.

You're someone who doesn't compromise
on being the person only you could be,
someone who doesn't hold back
on sharing the gifts only you can give.

And especially today,
I, for one, just want to say
thank you, thank you, thank you....
I'm thankful for the gift of you.

This is not my poem. It was given to me by another amazing friend I have.  I hope you like it as much as I do when I first received it.

Chocolate Cake with Surprise Cheesecake! Kek Cokelat dgn Cheesecake Terkejut?

Ingredients:
1 chocolate cake mix with pudding (kek dalam kotak tu…)
1/3 cup butter
16 oz cream cheese, softened
½ cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla flavor
2 eggs
2 tsp butter, melted
2 oz semi-sweet chocolate
2 tsp corn syrup
Directions:
1.       Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Prepare cake mix according to package directions, substituting butter for oil: reserve 1 ½ cup batter.
2.       Pour remaining batter into a 12 cup greased and floured fluted tube pan.
3.       Combine cream cheese, sugar and vanilla, mixing well at medium speed on an electric mixer until well blended: blend in eggs, one at a time.
4.       Pour over batter in the pan.  Spoon reserved batter over cream cheese mixture and bake 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 30 minutes then transfer to a plate.
5.       Combine melted butter, chocolate and corn syrup in a small pot. Cook over low heat until chocolate is melted.
6.       Pour over cooled cake.

For a better presentation, pour melted white chocolate on top of regular melted chocolate! Also, you can use your own cake recipe instead of using cake mix or use other cake mix flavor besides chocolate.  Happy trying!

Chocolate Mice Recipe

Ingredients
2 bottles
maraschino cherries with the stems attached (yields about 35 mice)
1 pkg
milk chocolate chips
1 pkg
sliced almonds
1 pkg
hershey's kisses

1.      Start by laying out a large area of wax paper and have it ready, also have all your kisses unwrapped and ready, you won't have time once the chocolate is melted

2.      Melt your chocolate chips

3.      Take your cherries by the stem and dip them into your melted chocolate

4.      Lay the cherry down and attach the kiss to it for form his head (the chocolate should serve as a glue, if it's not attaching good, dip the blunt end of your kiss in the chocolate to make it adhere better)

5.      While the chocolate is still warm grab your almond slices and attach his little ears (they go between the head and the body)

You can add eyes and nose too.  On the photo, I used white icing (that was what I have handy at the time :D). Also, if you like to make the mice look really fat, use the chocolate chip for the head instead of hershey kisses.  I personally love caramel kisses so that was what I used for my mice. Happy trying!
